Here you can find the products
used in the Aromayoga class. You can read about how the
products are made and what ingredients are used. The
essential oils help to open up the seven chakras or energy
centers and can help to release blocked areas of your
chakras. They also aid in releasing memory and emotion that
are stored within these centers of your
body. If you do
have any allergies and sensitivity to essential oils, please
let me know before class, or just do not participate in
applying them during our pratice. All ingredients used are
complelety free of any synthetic additives and chemicals and
should not cause any irritations, since they are diluted in
a carrier oil. All ingriedients are either organic or wild
crafted.

Learn more about the
Chakras:
Here
you will find some helpful information to educate
yourself about the chakras, before you come to
class This link
willl explain in more detail about the seven energy
centers, the chakras and their importance and impact
to our physical bodies.
Swadhisthana
Chakra
The second chakra is
the chakra of creativity, sensuality, sexuality,
related to relationships, our emotional identity and
pure attention. It is the one which connects us to the
inner source of inspiration, and enables us to
experience the beauty around us and to help us heal
our "womb" from old karmic issues.
On the physical level
it related to our, hips, abdomen, genitals, liver,
kidneys, the reproductive organs, lower back, bladder,
kidneys, urinary tract, (the watery aspects of our
bodies).
"The second chakra is
the centre of Swadhisthana and it tranlates to "one's
own place". Svadha means to sweeten; this chakra is often
called the chakra of sweetness. Opening up to
pleasure. Pleasure is natural and healing and our
birth right. Our ability to feel deeply and turning
life into a sensuous experience. Living our
sensuality, pleasure, desire, passion, movement and
emotion in a healthy
balance.
The second chakra is
related to the moon. Like the moon's pull on the
tides, our desires and passions can move great oceans
of energy. The moon rules the mysterious, the unseen,
the dark, and the feminine.
From this we discover
that all the beauty of Creation is reflected within us
like a still and silent lake. Once we locate this pool
of beauty we can become the channel for it. We become
the Collective Unconscious, without ego to distort the
purity of art. This chakra is also
called the "water" chakra, since its element is:
water. Water, is related to emotions, water is fluid
and moving and induces change and
growth. Our bodies are made
mostly out of water and within us flow our emotions,
our feelings and sensations. Through our desires we
expand. Desire is the expression of the physical and
spiritual needs of the being. It is like the movement
of water. (Trying
to apply the Yama: Bramacharya, see
below, to the second chakra. Living our senses in
moderation, not getting attached to pleasure and
desire, finding a healhty balance in all; that is the
art of
yoga).
The presiding deity for
the Swadhisthana Chakra is Shri Brahmadeva. He
represents the Creator, and has as
His power Shri Saraswati, who is the Goddess of music
and arts. He bestows purity, creativity, Pure
Knowledge, and cuts the Knot of Maya (material
attachment) and frees the seeker from earthly desires.
The liver has a
particular importance in that it is the seat of our
Attention (chitta). Attention should not be confused
with thought, which comes from ego (our I-ness) and
superego (our past
conditioning and upbringing). Attention is pure
concentration minus thought/mental activity. Attention
is pure concentration/observation/witnessing. A
balanced liver sustains and nourishes our Attention
and filters it by scanning out any impurities and
external clutter. From this purified attention comes
the peace and stillness that we obtain in our
meditation.
Working with the second
chakra:
Surround yourself with water,
either near a lake or the ocean. If you cannot be near
either of these, you can bring water into your house
through a bowl or a fountain of water. Moving with
grace, dancing, swimming and doing things that give
you pleasure and joy. Allowing yourself to receive all
the love that you deserve and more... Honoring your
relationships with those around you, see what they are
teaching you and most of all honor the relationship
within yourself.
This chakra is represented by
a six petaled lotus and the color orange. It contains
a crescent moon, and a lotus within a lotus. The seed
sound in the lotus is "vam".
To be continued in
one of my upcoming classes or workshops. Any second chakra
experiences, you are welcome to
share.

The Yamas and Niyamas
continued...
Yamas:
Living with our outer-world
There are many
interpretations of and opinions about the yamas and
niyamas. The yamas as described in Patanjali's Yoga
Sutra, which are also known as the great universal
vows or rules of behavior, exists in nearly every
religion or social philosophy, because they are not
limited by either class, creed, time or circumstances.
The Yamas are the guidelines for how we interact with
the outer world, the social disciplines to guide us in
our relationships with others.
Niyamas:
Living with your inner world:
The Niyamas are the
second constituents of Ashtanga Yoga, (ash=eight limbs
of yoga). How we interact with ourselves, our internal
world. The niyamas are about self-regulation-helping
us maintain a positive environment in which to grow.
________________________________________________
Yama:
#4 Brahmacharya: Moderation,
Channeling Emotions, Moderation in all things,
self-containment.
No overindulgence of
mind, intellect, speech or body; moderation on all
levels concerning sex, food, and all aspects of daily
life including the environment that cover our
emptiness inside. That emptiness is spiritual
starvation.
"Brahma"
= the
Creator "Charya" = teacher or
guide The word Brahmacharya is derived from the
two words Brahma and acharya or charya. Brahma is God
as the creator or progenitor, acharya is teacher and
charya means connected to. Thus one could say
brahmacharya means being connected to
Source".
"Today,
I am moderate, centered, and complete. I use my energy
in ways that lead me closer to my Source. I treat
myself and others with respect, recognizing the
inherent Divinity of all people."
Neither obsessing nor
repressing, make peace with your sensual cravings or
any interests that pull you off-center from your
Source. Avoid overindulgence of mind, intellect,
speech, and body.
Self-containment through
moderate sexuality and diet. No thoughts of past or
future sense pleasures. Freedom from attachment
to pleasure. Free from duality and
the illusion that you are incomplete. Inner
peace. Inner Ecstasy, replacing
outward focus of sensual/sexual
energies. Be moderate in
moderation, moderating the extremes.
Niyama:
#4 Swadhyaya:
Self-Education,
Study
Consider the meaning of spiritual concepts -
understanding the underlying wisdom, NOT accepting
without question. Expanding knowledge through
reading, pondering to understand the scriptures for observation of the
self in relation to all life.
Practice: reflection,
meditation, wanting to know the Truth.
Swadhyaya is the practice of
self-observation. Self-inquiry, mindfulness, self-study, study of
the scriptures, chanting and recitation of the
scriptures. Searching for the Unknown (divinity) in
the Known (physical world). Scriptural Study.
