AromaYoga Class: 19. June 2007
Summer Solstice
Greetings:
It is that time of the year again. Summer is
here in all its glory. On thrurday, June 21. we are
celebrating the longest day and the shortest night of
the year, it also marks the official beginning of
summer. We have reached the "height" of the year and
again it is no coincident that we have reached the
highest point of our journey through the chakras. We
will be focusing on the crown chakra tomorrow. If you
feel like you can wear anything from white, violet,
purple or gold, which represent the colors of the
sahasraha chakra.
On another note, I was asked
if I would like to teach this class again at 6:30pm,
instead of 8pm. I know that you have all adjusted to
this new time, though I was thinking that for the
summer month 6:30pm maybe a good time, so that
everyone can enjoy their evening out after class. Let
me know your thoughts. Either way is fine with
me. Blessings and stay cool.
Happy
Birthday: Christina: 21.
June Margie:22.
June Carol: 23.
June Gisela:25.
June Ruve: 26.
June Joan: 28.

MIDSUMMERS
NIGHT SUMMER
SOLSTICE JOHANNES
TAG
The Summer
solstice was celebrated by the Germanic tribes and
their neighbors, the Slavs and Celts, above all with
huge bon fires. Druids celebrated it as the wedding of
Heaven and Earth.
Possibly because the summer
solstice was celebrated as the day of victory of sun
and light over darkness and death, the church placed
the feast day of St. John the Baptist onto June 24,
directly opposite the feast day of the birth of Christ
on December 24. As Jesus is baptized by St. John and
announced as the Savior, it points to Jesus' role as
the one who will triumph over death.
St.
John's, Johannestag on June 24, is the name day of all
of those who are named Hans, Johann, John, Jack,
etc.
Wide-spread were customs and rituals, the
magic of the shortest night, of nature and the woods.
It was the night of fire festivals and of love magic,
of love oracles and divination. It had to do with
lovers and predictions, when pairs of lovers would
jump through the luck-bringing flames, maidens would
find out about their future husband, and spirits and
demons were banished.
Midsummernight, the
longest night of the year spells its magic. With
warmth and light and reborn nature, in stark contrast
to winter with reign of darkness and long cold nights,
it calls for special celebrations. Darkness has lost
its power, light is triumphant.

THE CROWN
CHAKRA SAHASRAHA
CHAKRA
Realisation ONENESS+BLISS
The 7th chakra is our connection to the divine.
This is the chakra which integrates all the chakras.
Sahasrara, the seat of supreme consciousness, is
located at the brahmarandra, or
crown-of the head. This is the seat of
enlightenment and the ultimate source of
awakening.
The symbol is the fully open lotus,
the flower in fullest bloom, symbolizing being totally
open to the Light. You've lost all individual
identity, and now you merge with 'All That Is'. You
become a fully realized being. This is
self-realization, the peak experience of which is
called samadhi.
When kundalini shakti reaches
sahasrara, it is known as the union between Shiva and
Shakti. With this union, self-realization or samadhi
dawns. At this point, individual consciousness dies,
and universal consciousness is born.
It
is in this chakra that we let go of attachments and
learn to see the unity within all
things.
Finding the meaning in life,
examining our belief systems, going inward, honoring
the divine. The Sahasrara Chakra encompasses the
crown of the head where all Chakras of the subtle
system are integrated. When Kundalini passes through
the top of the head, at the fontanel area, your
Realization is manifested. Sahasrara is the Promised
Land where absolute freedom and Truth is
granted.
The crown chakra is the chakra of illumination
which regulates the mental faculties and memory. It is
said to have 972 petals, a trait that has gained it
the name of the "thousand-petaled
lotus."
Violet in color, the crown is the
center through which we must attain God consciousness
(the awareness of yourself as a part of God.)
The aim of
Yogic practices is Samadhi (enlightenment). What
is realized in the yogic state of Samadhi is the
Oneness of Being.
_______________________________________________________________
If this center is imbalanced, it can
result in spiritual addiction, confusion, living in
the head, excessive attachments, being closed minded,
having difficulties to learn or memorise, adapting
rigid belief systems, disconnecting from the
body.
If this center is
open, a person experiences
their spirituality in a very personal form, unique to
that individual. This spirituality is not connected to
or defined by a dogma, or easily related with words.
It is rather a state of being, a state of
transcendence into the infinite. It goes beyond the
physical world, and creates in the individual, a sense
of wholeness, peace and faith, giving them a sense of
purpose to their existence. A person who has a
balanced 7th chakra, will have the ability to
assimilate and analize information, being intelligent
and present, having an open mind and being spiritually
connected. _______________________________________________________________
The PINEAL
gland is influenced by the energy of this center and
in turn directly influences the pituitary gland. In
studies done with light and color for instance it was
seen that the energy impulses coming through the optic
nerves, from whatever color one is looking at,
influenced the pineal gland to put out certain
hormones that tend to govern the hormones subsequently
produced by the pituitary. Each color and form has a
specific influence on the entire endocrine system.

Learn more about the
Chakras
What are
Chakras?
Chakras
are psychic centers that lie along the axis of the
spine as consciousness potentials. The chakras are not
materially real and are to be understood as situated,
not in the gross body, but in the subtle or etheric
body. Repositories of psychic energies, they govern
the whole condition of being. In the Hindy tradition
they are usually represented as
lotuses.
As
kundalini energy reaches each chakra, that lotus opens
and lift its flower; and as soon as she leaves for a
higher chakra, the lotus closes its petals and hangs
down, symbolizing the activation of the energies of
the chakra and their assimilation to kundalini.
Each
of the chakras, according to the Tantras, corresponds
to one of the elements of which the known world is
compounded. Muladhara represents solidity;
Svadhisthana, liquidity; Manipura, the gaseous;
Anahata, the aerial; Vishuddha, the etheric, or space.
This
ascent through the chakras can be viewed as an upward
journey through the
self. ________________________________________________________________
